This past Saturday, I was out to brunch with Q, Mom, my sister and her two littles. We met up at Olde Town Bakery on Main Street in Maben, MS. On the way there, I passed an antique shop that I always try to stop at when I am in that area and decided that I would on the way back home...last time I had found an antique mirror but walked away from it with the mindset of "think about it, make sure it will work" before buying it. Well I have done this so. many. times. Each time ending up in regret. I will never forgive myself for walking away from an old provincial dining table at another local antique shop (I have a thing for local antique shops), same mindset, to later come back for it and find nothing in its place.
Well I stopped...and good thing I did, it was their last day of business! Is that not a sign or what?! I ran to the spot where I last saw the mirror, and there she was...and now here she is in my foyer (pictured below). I originally had her in mind for my master bath vanity, but she is most certainly working here too! So, lesson learned, I am going to STOP "making sure it will work" and START just going for it!
IT WILL WORK, SOMEHOW, SOMEWAY...
And that can be said for more than just an antique mirror.

Along with this lesson learned, I also want to share some of my favorite local antique shop sources, in case you ever find yourself near Webster County or one of our neighboring counties. One of the things I love most about my home is looking around and seeing how all of these businesses, who I have formed friendships with, have come together to make something beautiful in my eyes. That and handed down pieces are what really make a house into Home for me!
